SAFETY INFORMATION

READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE.
Improper use can result in severe injury, death, or damage to underground utilities.

1. Intended Use

The EZGroundRod® is designed solely for establishing an electrical ground reference for approved underground utility locating equipment and temporary grounding needs.
It is not intended for probing, excavation, or forceful penetration of unknown soil conditions.

2. General Safety Warnings

⚠️ Ground Penetration Hazard

Before inserting the EZGroundRod® into the soil, the operator must verify that the insertion point is free of underground utilities and buried structures.

  • Conduct a complete pre-locate survey using site plans, approved utility locating methods, and visual inspection.

  • Maintain a minimum 24-inch (60 cm) clearance from any marked or suspected underground utility when placing the EZGroundRod®.

3. Ground Rod Use Restrictions

⚠️ DO NOT INSERT THE EZGroundRod® MORE THAN 6 INCHES (152 mm) INTO THE GROUND.

Penetrating deeper than 6 inches significantly increases the risk of striking buried utilities.

  • Begin insertion manually and slowly.

  • Stop immediately if resistance or obstruction is felt.

  • Do NOT use powered impact tools (such as hammers, drills, or drivers) to insert the EZGroundRod®.

  • Do not insert into asphalt, concrete, frozen ground, or heavily compacted soil unless the area has been fully cleared using approved utility-locating procedures.

4. Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

✔️ Safety Gloves Are Required

Operators must wear durable, insulated safety gloves at all times when handling the EZGroundRod®, in order to protect against:

  • Cuts or abrasions

  • Pinch points

  • Contact with grounding equipment

  • Exposure to cold, wet, or contaminated soil

Additional PPE is recommended:

  • Safety glasses or face protection

  • Protective footwear

  • Hi-visibility outerwear on active job sites

5. Operator Responsibilities

Operators using the EZGroundRod® are responsible for:

  • Ensuring the insertion point is safe and verified clear of underground hazards

  • Using the EZGroundRod® exactly as intended and instructed

  • Following all local, state, and federal utility-locating regulations

  • Keeping the tool clean, functional, and free of defects. Use stainless steel scrubbing pad to clean off any patina that may form.

  • Obtaining proper training before use if unfamiliar with locating procedures

6. Manufacturer Disclaimer
